Thursday, Roya's correspondent reported that a fuel tank exploded on Petra Road in Irbid, following a collision with another vehicle.

A fire broke out in the tank and spread to a number of nearby vehicles, he added.

The Director of the King Abdullah University Hospital Mohammad Al-Ghazo told Roya that the accident resulted in three deaths and five injuries.

The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) confirmed that rescue teams from the East Irbid Civil Defense Directorate, as well as the Irbid and Ramtha police, rushed to the scene following the collision.

He added that both vehicles caught on fire near the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) roundabout, noting that the fire has been extinguished.

Investigations are ongoing.
